Glittering AGM panel event
On 23rd January, a distinguished panel of guests answered a range of thoughtful and thought-provoking questions from the audience of members and guests. The panel included Alex Fergusson MSP, Aileen MacLeod MSP, The Chief Constable of Dumfries and Galloway, the Procurator Fiscal and The Youth Justice Manager.
Hamper winner drawn !
The winner of the luxury Flavours of Galloway hamper, featured in our Machars Guide 2011, is Mr. KW Glover of Nottingham. Councillor Graham Nicol drew the name out of the bag at our committee meeting of 6th December. The hamper was kindly donated by Flavours of Galloway.
AGM 2012
A distinguished panel of guests has agreed to come to our 2012 AGM for an "Any questions?" session on 23rd January at 7pm, Whithorn Trust Visitor Centre. All members and prospective members are cordially invited to attend.
Filming in Whithorn !
A film crew is currently filming "Ruadhan the Bard" in shops and premises in and around Whithorn and the Isle of Whithorn; many of our members have lent empty properties and props to the film crew and some members have participated as extras or even taken speaking roles in the film.
Beach Clean completed
Volunteers, Committee members and local people turned out on a blustery Sunday to carry out the annual litter pick at St Ninian's Cave beach.

AGM 2011
Another successful AGM was held, with guest speaker Quentin Palmer from Energy Savings Trust, explaining the ways of saving energy, and the types of renewable energy installation possible.
Whithorn Christmas Cards now available!
New Christmas cards of Whithorn in the snow are now available. The Association wanted to publish images of the town, to help market it abroad to the many friends and relatives who remember it well, and to new friends who may be amazed that this is the "first ever town to celebrate Christmas"!
New Machars Guidebook initiative
The Association received funding from LEADER for its new Machars 2011 guidebook, which will market the Machars as a whole for the first time : 60,000 copies are being produced, professionally designed and distributed, to venues all over the south of Scotland, north of England and Northern Ireland.
