Machars Rhins Guide at the printers' !
We're on target with the Machars Rhins Guide, which has to be in Glasgow for end of this month, so that the distributor's vans can take them round the South of Scotland and North of England. The Business Directory is now going to proof form.

AGM 19th January 2016
Our AGM is to be held at 6.30pm on 19th January, followed by an open question and answer session about high speed broadband. Representatives of the Dumfries and Galloway programme, Community Broadband Scotland and Digital Scotland will be present. This is an open meeting, so if you've got high speed broadband and have questions, would like it, can't get it, or just want to know more, come along !

New website being launched
We're working with designers from GetKnown to produce an exciting new website with interactive features, online shopping and booking facilities, plus uploadable walks with interactive maps. Some of you have volunteered to be the guinea pigs in the first trials and we'll keep you posted as to what we need to get you online.

We've been out and about distributing the Machars Rhins Guide, which has been in hot demand. We've distributed our local Business Directory door to door. We'll get a downloadable version of the Machars Rhins Guide online shortly for those who can't find a printed copy.

We've contacted all our advertisers about our new edition for 2015 and we've made a great introductory offer for joining our new Galloway tourism website as well. Do get in touch and let us know if you're joining us as soon as you can; the 60,000 copies will be out around the country by Easter 2015.

New website being launched
The Association is commissioning a brand new website, with lots of features, such as online booking and availability calendars for accommodation providers, interactive maps, shopping carts and more ! The site is being designed over the winter to blend with our Machars-Rhins Guide and will be launched in spring of 2015. E mail us for prices on mail@whithorn.info

Day of the Region weekend
There are free events all weekend, with local groups showcasing their hobbies, pastimes and sports, as well as a School Concert, Community Resilience lunch, Whithorn Trust lunch on Sunday, Fashion Show and Tea Dance. There are only a few tickets left for the latter two events, so please check at the orange gazebo for any remaining tickets.

Day of the Region starts!
The Day of the Region kicked off to a great start with 3 screenings of the silent film about Whithorn made by Urbancroft. Local people turned out in great numbers and then stayed on for Polish, Indian and Scottish food, laid on by local volunteers. The Business Association would like to thank all involved for their contributions and enthusiasm.

Day of the Region
Whithorn has been selected as a venue for a Day of the Region celebration in September ( 20/21st) this year. Local groups are asked to contact the Community Council with their ideas and to lodge requests for funding. 24 groups have signed up, with everything from cupcakes to boxing ! This promises to be an exciting day, celebrating everything good in Whithorn !
